Description of the problem	After driving about an hour and a half in 90 degrees with air conditioner on, the rpms jolted upwards while my car began to decelerate. It felt like it popped out of gear and i was careening down the highway in neutral. I was able to get it to the side of the rode and let it set for a couple of hours. I then had to take back roads and drive under 50 mph with out air conditioner, but made it home. I brought it in to maplewood klein nissan dealer and device. They did a diagnostic test and said there was an intermittent transmission problem. I needed a new transmission, at $4200, and the car only has 139000 miles. They told me to contact nissan consumer affairs and file a complaint. They service department said this appears to be a common problem and nissan company has been helping with repairs, anywhere between 30-70%. However, after several phone calls and emails, i was informed by the consumer affairs department they do not help customers with this issue if past the 60000 miles or 5 years. I asked how the other customers where able to get help, despite being past the warranty, and i was told nissan was in no position to help me. I said it was dangerous t drive and the cvt should not be going out this soon. I also stressed that research shows many customers are experiencing the same issue and something is wrong with the transmission they put in the cars. I was told no help would be given, thank you for calling.
