Description of the problem | Driver heading down hill used the + and - indicators to manually put the transmission into 3rd gear. Going approximately 60/70 mph heard the transmission slip into 2nd gear and the rpm's began to increase. The vehicle continued to accelerate through the manual breaking of the driver. The driver took the next exit placing the vehicle into neutral when a transmission sensor flashed. Still with no gas the engine continued to accelerate. The driver who was able to place the vehicle into park off the exit turned the vehicle off and when turning back on engine continued throttle as if in full acceleration. Vehicle was turned off and towed to vista autogroup in silverthorne, co. Vehicle was repaired finding a faulty acceleration pedal sensor. |
