Description of the problem | The cause of the "sudden unintended acceleration" in tesla vehicles is a design flaw in which the gas and brake pedals are too close together and not offset as in other vehicles. While tesla alleges it is user error, this error is caused by poor design. 1. As you begin to stop or pull into a parking spot (vehicle in motion traveling at a slow speed in a parking lot), it is quite easy to push the wrong pedal, or push both pedals, causing acceleration. This is especially true for drivers with large feet. 2. Occurance is relatively rare, and can cause property damage and minor injuries. 3. User remedies include not wearing shoes while driving. |
