Description of the problemMy 3 yr old son was in a booster seat in the middle of back seat. He was strapped in with seatbelt. When seatbelt was released, the seatbelt went behind his back. I did not notice. It was somehow wrapped around his waist like a noose. When i tried to lift him through it, i couldn't get him out. He was literally suspended several inches off the seat it was so tight. The seatbelt would not loosen. It was only getting tighter and tighter. It eventually got so tight it was cutting into his waist. I took his pants and underwear off to try make more room; to no avail. It was excruciatingly painful for him. He was screaming and crying. The seatbelt would not loosen. We did not know what to do. This happened on a sunday. Dealers were closed. We had to cut the seatbelt with an exacto knife. Scissors would not cut it. This problem did occur several times in the past, but i was able to lift him out. This time it was so tight i could not get him out. My concern is that if this happened on a highway or in a remote area, i would not have an exacto knife. This could have resulted in his death. The dealer said all seatbelts retract if fully extended. This seatbelt was not fully extended. This must be a defect. My husband is an engineer and could not loosen! Dealer refuses to fix or acknowledge there is a problem. I do not know what to do.
