Description of the problem | Left low beam headlamp failed at 78000 miles. I replaced the bulb, to no avail. Switched the bulb to the driver side and it worked perfectly. Put the suspected bad bulb in the driver side, worked perfectly. Did some research and learned that the passenger side dim headlight socket was the subject of a recall. Took the car to village vw in chattanooga. They refused to even look at the car, until i paid 99 dollars for a diagnosis fee, then parts and labor. I explained and re explained the recall. The refused to fix the car, since my vin wasn't specifically listed in the recall. I am having the exact symptoms listed n the recall, vw is refusing to repair it. This is apparently a common problem considering all i have read. Many passat owners have the same problem with the same light, and vw is refusing to repair the vehicles. |
