Description of the problem | Redundant tank heater failure. Very common issue (to the point that there are several "how to" fix it yourself procedures and a "hack" to trick the mil light into thinking it is working. Even though it failed within the carb warranty period, vw refused to fix under carb warranty because a vw dealership did not diagnose it within the warranty period (it was 3rd party mechanic) and car is now well out of carb warranty. It is a very costly repair and an extremely common failure, to the point were there is a vw tsb on the part failing in the passats and touregs. I have approached vw twice on the issue, but to no love from them. Car is still drivable since this part is not used in the climate that i drive it in, so i have not fixed it for a year and a half now. |
